The organisation was formed on 1st July 2018 to bring together our five hospitals in Derby, Burton, Lichfield, and Tamworth to provide the highest quality care to patients across southern Derbyshire and south-east Staffordshire.
DME at UHDB has developed and expanded considerably over the past 5 years. At the Royal Derby Hospital site, there are 16 Consultants and 4 Acute Inpatient Geriatric Wards, and at Queen's Hospital, Burton we have 3 Consultants and 2 Acute Inpatient Geriatric Wards.

The Department is looking to expand these services over the next few years.
The Burton-based team provides specialist clinics in falls, fracture prevention, syncope, and orthogeriatrics.
