Legal Counsel – Legal Governance (Finance and Corporate Services) Permanent position - £50,000 Hybrid - 2 days a week onsite We are currently seeking a highly experienced Legal Counsel to join a prestigious educational institution's team.

The business unit you will be a part of sits across various essential functions, including financial planning and accounting, facilities and building management, procurement, program and project management, corporate governance and performance, organisational development, enterprise architecture and legal and compliance.

Your expertise will lie in contracts, company law, intellectual property, and procurement and be able to prioritise a risk-based approach and collaborate closely with the Senior Legal Counsel and the Governance team.
Role Overview: As Legal Counsel you will oversee legal aspects crucial to the business's operations: Identifying and managing legal risks Drafting various contract documents, and maintaining legal agreements and precedents effectively Supporting the Legal and Governance teams by updating legal agreements Staying informed on legislative changes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements Key Responsibilities: If you are a qualified solicitor or legal executive with expertise in commercial contracts and procurement, this could be for you.
I am looking for someone with a proven track record in drafting and advising on such matters.
The ideal candidate will have experience in identifying and managing legal risk within a diverse legal portfolio, offering pragmatic advice.
An in-house background is preferred, with strong technical skills and meticulous attention to detail in contractual issues being essential.

Essential Experience & Skills: Qualified Solicitor with 2+ years of PQE Significant experience in commercial contracts, within the education space is preferred Higher education sector experience is a nice to have Demonstrable experience working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted legal environment Strong knowledge of employment law, intellectual property, and procurement frameworks Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Worked within a small organisation working on a variety on areas across the business Desired Experience: Prior experience working with legal matters relating to students, arts, or entertainment contracts Knowledge of GDPR and governance frameworks Why Apply?
