Learning Support Assistant – Specialist Autism School – Clacton-on-Sea A specialist autism school in Clacton-on-Sea is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team.
In this full-time role, you will play a crucial part in creating structured and calming environments that enable students with autism to thrive both academically and socially.
Your support will be instrumental in fostering a positive learning atmosphere where every student can reach their full potential.
Role Highlights Full-time position in a dedicated autism-focused setting that prioritizes the unique needs of students with autism spectrum conditions Collaborate closely with experienced SEN staff to design and implement personalized learning plans tailored to each student's strengths, interests, and developmental goals Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop essential life skills Assist in the creation of a structured, calming classroom environment that promotes focus, reduces anxiety, and encourages positive social interactions among students Participate in regular training and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in autism support and best practices in special education Engage with parents and caregivers to share insights and strategies for supporting student development at home, fostering a strong home-school partnership Experience & Qualifications Prior experience in autism support, special educational needs (SEN), or related fields is preferred, although candidates with a strong interest in supporting students with autism will also be considered Strong organizational skills and the ability to implement structured routines that benefit students with varying needs A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with students, understanding the importance of adapting to individual learning styles and challenges Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with teachers, support staff, and families A current and clear Enhanced DBS check is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of all students This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to make a positive impact in the lives of students at a specialist autism school in Clacton-on-Sea.
