We are working with a college that support young people aged 16 and over to recruit a Learning Support Assistant.
This college is a specialist provision for those with additional needs.
The learners here have all been diagnosed with some form of SEN including Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and SEMH.
This college is part of a larger trust which has a renowned specialist approach to working with those with additional needs with multiple schools supporting each to ensure both staff and pupils make progress and develop their skill set.
Due to the learners needs the curriculum would be holistic curriculum focused on independent living skills such as budgeting, finance, cooking and other key aspects of adult life.
This specialised curriculum is designed to prepare the learners for life after college and employment.
The successful Learning Support Assistant would be someone who has worked with people with additional needs, such as those from schools, care backgrounds, those with personal experience and other sectors that support those in needs.
The Learning Support Assistant role would involve: Supporting delivery of tasks with Teacher Nurturing and caring support of vulnerable people Providing a sense of calm and safety Working within traditional school hours, 08:30-16:00 approximately Working proactively to identify those who need support.
The college is based in the Didsbury area of Manchester not too far from the Withington Hospital Those who apply for this role would be subject to standard vetting checks inclusive of two recent reference and obtaining/having a DBS on the Update Service.
