Job summary Diagnostics, Clinical Support and Cancer Services LEAD OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST Band 7 (Band 6-7 development post may be considered for candidates who demonstrate an interest and demonstrate relevant experience) Permanent contract Hours: hours per week SALARY RANGE; Band 7 Please quote vacancy reference An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team and provide leadership to our Stroke and Neurology OT service.
The post holder will lead and deliver occupational therapy services alongside a dedicated team of OT staff, working on the hyper acute/acute/ rehabilitation stroke unit, and early supported discharge service.
Early supported discharge operates as an outreach service from the stroke unit, enabling patients to continue therapy at home following discharge.
The team is committed to delivering high standards of care working closely with the multidisciplinary team across the whole patient pathway.
Main duties of the job We are seeking applicants with significant experience at a senior level, and who demonstrate specialist skills in Stroke/Neurology and rehabilitation.
The post holder should also have a keen interest in positive leadership, operational management and service innovation, and have a passion for providing acute discharge planning alongside rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions.
About us Our department is committed to supporting and developing staff through appraisals and the supervision process.
We provide clinical placements for students from Sheffield and Derby Universities, and we have a dedicated practice learning facilitator.
You will be asked to help support students within the department.
We are commissioned to provide a seven day services so flexibility to work weekends will be required.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential Qualification in Occupational Therapy at degree or diploma level.
Relevant post-graduate training, to include Masters level study or a willingness to undertake this.
HCPC registered.
Evidence of recent CPD specific to speciality Desirable Management qualification Masters degree in related specialist area Experience Essential Demonstrate experience of management at a Senior level, including staff management Significant experience of working at Senior level within Neurology Desirable Experience across a broad range of Occupational Therapy practise Skills and Knowledge Essential Experience of project work relating to service developments.
Experience of developing and supervising staff.
Involvement in department, Trust and NHS wide initiatives.
High levels of clinical knowledge within the Neurology OT specialism.
Experience of supervising undergraduate occupational therapy students.
