Job Description Summary GE Vernova would like to recruit a Lead Sales and Tendering Engineer to work in our after sales service team.
GE Vernova's Power Transmission Service business is responsible for after-sales support of our installed base of power transmission equipment, from erection and commissioning, through spare parts, maintenance and repair, to major overhaul and extension projects.
We are now looking for an experienced customer facing Sales & Tendering Engineer to join our team and take responsibility for identifying, developing, costing and securing new projects.
Typical customers include Distribution and Transmission Network Operators, and both Renewable and Conventional Power Generation Companies.
Experience of the power transmission industry and after-sales service would be an advantage, but enthusiasm, drive, and a proven track record of establishing customer relationships and trust are paramount.
Job Description Roles and Responsibilities : Establishing relationships at all levels within key customers, identifying stakeholders and decision makers.
Proactive approach to identifying upcoming projects.
Working with customers to develop specifications and scope of work.
Engage with subject matter experts and key internal stakeholders (Project Management, Field Service, H&S, Quality etc.)
to ensure that the full scope of work is considered.
Prepare tender offers aligned with scope of work and according to internal business processes.
Ensure prices are established based on target-winning price, with a view on market conditions (competition, customer budget).
Analyse contract agreements and identify deviations from standard GE terms.
Lead the deal approval process and ensure compliance with GE contracting guidelines.
Understand the customer approval process and key decision makers.
Depending on deal size, lead or assist with customer negotiations to close the deal.
Update the Service team on progress, input into workload management and scheduling.
Ensure the CRM system is utilized and updated in a timely manner.
Utilise Lean methodologies to improve proposal process.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop knowledge of key business drivers, their customers, sales territory, product lines, markets and sales and tendering processes.
Most decisions fall within a defined framework, but within those guidelines the successful candidate will have a degree of autonomy in the final deal.
Required Qualifications: Vital to the role is a proven track record of building customer relationships and trust, an understanding of the UK electricity network and customers, and experience in sales and tendering.
Previous experience with Tendering.
Will be required to generate cost analysis templates and produce customer proposals independently.
Desired Characteristics: A Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or similar is desirable but not necessary.
A working knowledge of typical UK forms of contract, NEC, FIDIC etc.
would be an advantage.
The role will involve occasional travel within the UK, and we are therefore looking for an individual who is able to work unsupervised, and to manage and prioritise their own workload.
Involved at an early stage in project development, an ability to logically and systematically analyse problems, develop options and to understand and discuss GE's proposed solutions.
Often working to tight deadlines, the successful candidate will be able to engage with and to influence diverse stakeholders across the business to ensure their customer's timescales are met.
Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary to develop an understanding of customer's needs, to clearly communicate GE's offer, and to communicate customer's requirements and priorities to GE internal stakeholders.
Responsible for securing their allocated target order intake, an ability to develop relationships and influence at all levels within a customer organisation.

Working Arrangements Flexible working arrangements including a mixture of home and office working are available, but it is anticipated that the extensive interactions necessary across multiple internal stakeholders will require the successful candidate to be in our Stafford offices on a regular basis.
A typical work-week is therefore likely to include 2 or 3 days in our Stafford office.
