Job summary We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our dynamic, friendly and forward thinking team as a Lead Physicist (MPE) for Radiotherapy Imaging.The successful candidate will act as MPE and provide leadership and strategic direction in the imaging area of radiotherapy physics, both pre-treatment and treatment, working closely with the lead physicist for pre-treatment and the lead physicist for QA and Dosimetry.You should be registered as a Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council, and ideally you should have registration as an MPE certificated through RPA 2000.
However, those with significant experience currently building an MPE portfolio will be considered.Radiotherapy Physics provides a comprehensive clinical physics service to University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) providing radiotherapy treatments to the Trust's population in Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
We have 4 Varian linear accelerators, a superficial X-Ray unit and a well-appointed HDR brachytherapy facility.
We utilise SGRT for many of our treatment including a tattoo-free breast technique.
As we enter into an exciting new round of equipment replacement, we are looking to further develop our SABR service, introduce adaptive radiotherapy and increase our activity in research and development.
We are aspiring to become an STP training centre and to participate in the Higher Specialist Scientific Training scheme.
Main duties of the job To act as Medical Physics Expert as defined by legislation (currently IRMER 2017), providing expert advice in relation to radiotherapy.
To act as a lead Medical Physics Expert specialising in radiotherapy imaging.
Working under the lead physicist for Brachy & IGRT to take responsibility for the associated documented protocols and procedures for the imaging area.
To support the development of protocols and competency frameworks for new techniques.
Undertake a range of specialist scientific and clinical duties to support all sections of Radiotherapy Physics.
