Position Overview We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Physical Risk Modeller / Climate Scientist to join our team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in developing and applying climate risk models that assess physical risks posed by climate change, including extreme weather events, sea-level rise, and other natural hazards.
As part of our agile and collaborative startup environment, you will have the flexibility to innovate, make significant contributions, and grow into a senior leadership role within the company.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop risk assessments, deliver actionable insights, and support clients in building climate-resilient strategies.
This position offers the chance to make a significant impact in the climate adaptation space by shaping climate risk frameworks, working with cutting-edge data, and contributing to the growth of our client base.
Key Responsibilities Lead the development and application of physical risk models to assess and quantify the impacts of climate hazards on infrastructure, communities, and businesses.
Provide expert input on the physical risks of climate change, with a focus on extreme weather, hydrological risks, heat stress, and coastal and inland flooding.
Work collaboratively with internal teams to integrate risk models into broader climate risk management frameworks and solutions for clients.
Interpret climate model outputs and provide clear, actionable insights to clients, assisting them in making informed decisions on climate adaptation measures.
Produce comprehensive risk assessment reports, supported by robust data analysis and clear communication of complex scientific information.
Keep abreast of the latest developments in climate science, climate modelling, and physical risk assessment tools and methodologies.
Support the development of business proposals and client presentations by contributing expert knowledge in climate science and physical risk modelling.
Mentor and guide junior team members on climate risk modelling techniques and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience A PhD or MSc in Climate Science, Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.
Strong expertise in physical climate risk modelling and assessment.
Proficiency with climate data and modelling tools (e.g., GCMs, RCMs, GIS).
Knowledge of climate adaptation strategies, infrastructure risk, and resilience.
Experience working with data sets related to extreme weather events, coastal flooding, and/or hydrological risks.
Proven track record of delivering clear and impactful risk assessments or climate resilience strategies for clients.
Ambition to grow into a senior leadership role as the company expands.
