You'll lead the development and implementation of clinical and cost effectiveness medicines utilisation strategies across Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.If you are interested but don't feel that you are quite ready for a lead pharmacist role, we are also able to offer this post as a developmental role, commencing at Band 8a and progressing to a Band 8b once you are able to meet the full requirements and responsibilities of the post.This post can be based at either Musgrove Park or Yeovil District Hospitals.
Main duties of the job As the Lead Pharmacist Clinical Effectiveness, you'll work closely and in collaboration with commissioners, ICB and NHSE regional specialist commissioning teams, to develop and deliver efficiency savings plans for High-Cost Drugs budgets and medicine utilisation in Somerset.Building close relationships with clinical teams you'll actively support the development and implementation of treatment pathways for high-cost drugs and new treatments.As a key member of the Trusts Drug and Therapeutics Committee you will manage the Trust formulary with a robust evidenced based approach, alongside clear implementation plans for new therapies, formulary decisions and the implementation of NICE and commissioner endorsed treatments.As a member of the clinical pharmacy team you will contribute to the delivery of general high quality clinical pharmacy services meeting the needs of patients and healthcare professionals within the Trust.If you are a motivated and visionary pharmacist looking to make a significant impact in clinical effectiveness, we would love to hear from you.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Masters degree or equivalent in PharmacyPostgraduate Diploma and/or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy and/or General Pharmacy PracticeFull current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Desirable Registered independent prescriberA recognised NHS leadership qualification or equivalent Experience Essential Demonstrable pharmacy experience delivering clinical pharmacy practice at an advanced level (min 5 years) Significant experience in clinical pharmacy management of complex patients Demonstrable clinical pharmacy experience of general medicine, general surgery (including non-specialist service provision to acute and emergency patients) Significant experience of in-house one-to-one teaching, including clinical training and/or mentoring of pharmacy staff Experience of staff management, appraisal and objective setting Familiarity with national and local medicine commissioning Desirable Financial management Additional Criteria Essential Maintains a broad knowledge of clinical and pharmacy practiceDemonstrable commitment to continuous professional developmentUnderstanding of NHS drug budgets, providers and commissioners (ICB, NHSE Specialised commissioning etc) Able to co-ordinate and manage audit and improvement project work.
