- Sittingbourne, KentAbout the role Kemsley Paper Mill has a new opportunity for a Lead E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) Engineer to join and contribute to a high-performing team.
Collaborating with colleagues across engineering departments and disciplines, you will take the lead in the planning and execution of routine E&I preventative maintenance in your area.
You will be leading and taking ownership of complex problems in both development and immediate Engineering events using appropriate fault-finding skills and tools to aid fault diagnosis.
The planning aspect of this role requires proactively working with resources within your team and other engineering departments to produce and implement work plan packs and schedules to maintain maximum efficiency of our assets.
Responsibilities will include:Ensuring that a safe working environment is being maintained at all times, complying with all company safety procedures and legislation.Complying with the site's Environmental Management System to reduce potential hazards in the working environment, ensure safety of employees, and ensure efficient use of materials to reduce our environmental impact.Participate / Lead company investigations including root cause analysis, creation of risk assessments, SSOW (Safe Systems of Work) and developing maintenance procedures as required.Participate in the DS Smith Way Processes (Lean) for Operational departments, including morning Hub attendance.Function as a technical lead via decision making and problem solving, and reporting outcomes of investigations to relevant stakeholders.Planning maintenance work in line with DS Smith policies, focusing on method statements, risk assessments, isolation requirements, parts lists, manuals and drawings.Estimating total cost of each maintenance task / work order with respect to direct labour and materials and considering the availability of special parts and tools.Working with Production Planning and Management to create optimal maintenance and shutdown schedules, before communicating these to relevant teams.
Note: This role is part of an engineering callout rota, you will be on call 1 week out of every 7 with the expectation that you will provide support, escalate and facilitate engineering events that effect production of the site.
