The wider epi team includes PhD level experts in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), chartered environmental managers, former Big 6 consultants, qualified accountants, MBAs and experienced project managers.
Due to rapid of growth in our Scope 3, net zero and emissions reduction service lines, we are looking for a new Consultant to join us in an exciting growth phase and take a core role in our exciting and interesting portfolio of projects that help our clients to navigate their journey to net zero.
About the role: You will be a Consultant focusing on LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) and carbon reduction, delivering carbon reduction expertise and environmental/social advisory services to our UK, European and US corporate clients – primarily to major Telecoms companies and their suppliers, including many well-known major telco, electronics and tech brands.
As a Consultant you will work with our team of analysts, consultants and Director of Consulting to undertake tasks such as: Baseline assessment and gap analysis – using epi's proprietary tool and methodology to conduct baseline assessments of client companies using client LCA or GHG Inventory data, agreeing targets for improvement and developing forward improvement plans Delivering Subject Matter Expertise - attending online meetings with clients and team members, acting as a carbon subject matter expert or delivering training for other consultants Developing consulting deliverables – delivering outputs for client engagements, such as reports, spreadsheet analysis, workshops, webinars and client presentations Programme management – managing groups of supplier companies as part of epi's supplier development programs, including briefing and coordinating involved companies, working with them to develop carbon reduction plans, holding them accountable to commitments, and reporting progress to client sponsors Assisting in epi business development – supporting the consulting Director as required with development of presentations, proposals and statements of work for new consulting projects You will develop deliverables for client projects such as: Industry Supplier Development Programme – work with a group of electronics companies to align their environmental requirements for their shared suppliers, reducing cost burden for suppliers while helping the telcos achieve their Scope 3 emissions reductions more quickly Scope 3 Inventory Review – work with a leading European telecoms company to review their Scope 3 emissions inventory, benchmark it versus industry peers and advise on key opportunities to improve measurement and calculation methods, as well as reduction opportunities Sustainable Smartphone Strategy – work with a leading European telecoms operator to design smartphone propositions that drive competitive advantage while also reducing embodied carbon emissions through greater sales of refurbished devices EU CSRD Reporting – work with a small epi team to support a client performing a Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) for EU CSR Reporting compliance for a European electronics manufacturer, providing expertise to identify Risks, managing the stakeholder engagement via surveys and interviews, and facilitating workshops to map the company value chain and identify material topics.
Candidate requirements: The ideal candidate will have: 3+ years of business experience in an area such as consulting, business strategy/insight, sustainability, life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental management, Supply Chain Due Diligence, or carbon accounting (GHG Protocol) Experience in carbon footprinting, Scope 1/2/3 carbon accounting in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), or Product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) using tools such as SimaPro and Ecoinvent Strong consulting and project management skills MS Powerpoint skills, to support report development MS Excel skills, to support use and development of consulting tools and methods Natural attention to detail, resourcefulness, organisational proficiency and conscientious way of working Significant experience working in a top consulting firm, start-up, lean corporate, or other fast-paced, dynamic environment Ability to deliver a handful of different client-facing projects while managing competing deadlines pragmatically Experience in Telecoms, ICT, manufacturing, civil engineering/construction or the electronics sector is beneficial Comfortable working independently in a remote role, with minimal oversight   This role might not be for you if… You enjoy staying within your area of expertise.

While net zero has a long time-horizon, the problem requires immediate action and our clients have demanding targets in place that they need our help with.
We work methodically but quickly   Location: Remote Type: Full-Time, Permanent   Pay : £50,000 – £60,000 per annum   Location, remuneration and working hours This is a hybrid role based from your home office, requiring occasional (infrequent) epi office visits within the Midlands / M25 corridor.
The majority of our client work is remote (via MS Teams) so visits to client offices are infrequent.
Remuneration is negotiable for the right candidate.
