Job Advertisement: Level 3 Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support for a Year 2 Pupil with ASD) Position: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Location: Blackburn - BB1 Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only Salary: £12.90 - £13.50 per hour We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 3 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 2 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support the pupil's learning, social, and emotional development, ensuring they can thrive in a mainstream classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide tailored support for a pupil with ASD, focusing on their specific educational and emotional needs.
- Assist the pupil with their daily routines, helping them to stay focused and engaged during lessons.
- Adapt learning activities to ensure inclusion and understanding.
- Implement strategies and interventions to support the child's communication, social skills, and behaviour.
- Promote independence and confidence in the pupil's learning and interactions with peers.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and other staff to develop and follow an individual education plan (IEP) for the pupil.
- Provide regular feedback to parents, teachers, and SENCO on the pupil's progress and any areas of concern.
- Create a safe, supportive, and positive environment that enables the pupil to reach their full potential.
Person Specification: - Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs is essential.
- Knowledge of autism-specific strategies and tools such as PECS, visual timetables, and sensory processing interventions is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both the pupil and their family.
- Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to adapt to the pupil's evolving needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, following the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
