Job overview To manage the implementation, maintenance and configuration of the Ordercomms (and potentially other diagnostic systems) of Kent and Medway Pathology Network (KMPN) in conjunction with the application managers within each laboratory and radiology discipline.
To ensure maximum availability, reliability and performance from each system and that they continue to meet the network requirements.Accountable for the management and maintenance of the network's core clinical systems and responsible for developing solutions in response to current digital requirements.
Promote continuous improvement in service delivery, ensuring a quality assured service to Trust and external staff to perform their daily duties using digital systems efficiently.
To support the provision of high-quality patient care, by effectively providing support and proactively managing the day-to-day operation of these systems.
The post holder will take responsibility Network wide for working with staff and managers at all levels of the organisations in order to provide a high quality, efficient service.
Responsible for the effective development, strategic and operational management of the network's core clinical systems in line with the implementation of the Kent and Medway Pathology Network (KMPN) wide digital and data strategy.
Main duties of the job To ensure the ongoing resilient delivery of pathology information management commitments by providing both application and operational support.To manage the implementation, maintenance and configuration of the radiology / pathology computer systems and Ordercomms systems of Kent and Medway Pathology Network in conjunction with the Information Services department and the application managers within each laboratory discipline.To ensure that procedures are in place whereby all laboratory users of the pathology computer systems are adequately trained in their use of the relevant systems and are aware of their Data Protection and confidentiality responsibilities, and that this is all documented in training records.Undertake project management of IT system deployment for Pathology across the Network.
To assist in the upgrade and consolidation of the existing systems and help implement future developments.To maintain along with the individual Trusts the interface links on the pathology side between the pathology systems and other hospital systems.To carry out preliminary fault finding of printers, PCs analyzer interfaces and other pathology IT equipment and escalating with the IT department as appropriate, both in the Trusts and at GP surgeries.The KMPN IT systems Manager (along with the Pathology IT leads in each Trust) is responsible for ensuring that the inter-related systems are fully operational and links within outside agencies are maintained and developed.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities ·Accountability - The post holder will frequently have to work on their own initiative and discretion.
They will have the freedom to initiate action within Trust policies and will determine IT policies in association with the Pathology General Manager and Trust Director of Health Informatics.
·Communications and working relationships The post-holder will need to demonstrate advanced communication working across multiple organisations and leading and managing planning and implementation of clinical systems.
This requires negotiation and influencing at a senior level.
The role includes delivering difficult messages relating to change of practice and change of project timescales requiring negotiation.
The post-holder is required to present to the project steering group and external meetings with GPs and other key stakeholders.
The post holder will be required to manage training for ICE at GP surgeries with practice staff including GPs, practice managers, reception staff, nurses and phlebotomists; training for TelePath web browser for all authorised staff; training for TelePath main application with laboratory staff.
·Planning and organisationalProject management of planning and deployment of ICE and other clinical systems in line with overall project timeline.
Exeption reporting to steering group including risks and issues and potential reworking of plans when required.
Planning and scheduling of potentially processor-intensive tasks to determine when users may perform data interrogation.
Advanced keyboard skills are required, to develop and implement keyboard macros in a range of applications.
To use Pathology IT solutions in a manner that meets all relevant regulatory and accreditation bodies (eg UKAS, MHRA, HTA, CPA, ISO).
·Responsibility for policy/service developmentTo review the Pathology IT marketplace, noting where developments and enhancements may be made and to explore and to develop methods of enhancing service provision.
Will contribute to and facilitate the delivery of all Trust and departmental policies and procedures in relation to data quality.Where managing staff, will ensure team's adherence to policy and monitor compliance.
