Job summary WORCESTERSHIRE ROYAL HOSPITALACUTE FRAILTY UNIT (AFU)JUNIOR SISTER / CHARGE NURSE BAND 6PERMANENTFULL TIME hrs per weekAn excitingopportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse on the Acute FrailtyUnit.
AFU is a 22 bedded ward includinga dedicated 8 bedded Frailty / Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) area and purpose built Dementia Garden.
This ward cares for frail elderly patients whorequire transitional care to facilitate the discharge to their place ofresidence.Thefrailty service has seen some exiting new developments within the Trustrecently with the new GEMS Service Team run by a team of Advanced ClinicalPractitioners with a new assessment bay on the ward.Thesuccessful candidate will have responsibility for providing a high standard ofclinical leadership.

Main duties of the job As a junior sister you will have proven managerial and organisational skills.
Have experience of effectively supporting the team in delivering high quality care to a clinical role model, you will have the willingness to develop the team as well as your own professional will have excellent communication skills, at least 2/3 years post registration experience with a passion for frailty and want to make a positive difference to patient experience.

Job description Job responsibilities Toalways ensure the maintenance of a high standard of nursing care though theeffective management of staff and resources and to be available for advice andsupport within the Acute Frailty Unit.Provideeffective leadership and to act as a good role model, as well as to liaise withall members of the multi-disciplinary team and co-ordinate all aspects of carein the best interests of the patient and family.Tosupervise junior staff and to teach qualified and unqualified staff asappropriate.Achieveand maintain competence in identified mandatory and statutory training; developand maintain clinical competencies, skills and knowledge which relate to the areaof clinical practice Venepuncture, Cannulation.For a more concise outline of the job requirements please see attached job description.
Person Specification Experience Essential Experience at Band 5 within the speciality or related field.
Ward / Departmental management experience at Band 5 or above.
Ward / Department based teaching.
Managing clinical risk and incidents at Ward / Department level.
Desirable Competent to undertake venepuncture / cannulation if appropriate.
Clinical audit activity.
Risk assessment.
Staff appraisals and PDR formation.
Sickness absence / performance management.
Complaints handling.
Qualifications Essential RGN with current registration.
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
Evidence of management experience / training.
Post registration qualification or experience in the specialty.
NMC recognised teaching and assessing qualification.
Desirable Teaching and Assessing Qualification.
Higher Degree.
