Junior Menswear Designer - MAT Cover Leeds Main purpose of job: As a Junior Designer, you will play a vital role in Ben Sherman taking responsibility for generating new ideas and designs.
Through the design and development process you will take your initial research into sketches and full tech packs under the direction of the Brand Director.
You will collaborate with other designers, buyers and tech teams to develop and launch new products for the business.
You will continue provide essential admin support to your department.
Key Accountabilities: Compile competitor and trend research as required through the design process, making evaluations and edits based on what is right for the brand's DNA.
Map out ideas on range boards for key brands to be used in reviews and presentations Create digital colour palettes seasonally and select pantone shades with the design team.
Attend design meeting taking notes, contributing ideas and actioning developments where necessary.
Create and update design packs in Illustrator liaising with product development teams.
Update artworks where required.
Review fabric handlooms, colour strike offs with the product teams ready for approval.
Attend fit sessions to follow through the development process, managing updates and changes to design packs where required.
Prepare samples for presentations & organise samples in the design areas.
Assist in keeping pantone and BROS colour systems tidied away and organised.
Assist in the Seasonal Launch or external meetings by preparing, organising and arranging samples as required.
Set up any seasonal range line-books and CADS (where relevant) for all departments.
Responsible for: Actively conducting independent research, benchmarks and market knowledge.
Generating on brand ideas from design briefs.
Keeping accurate and up to date tech packs for product development.
Creating artworks for fabric designs.
Self-management of tasks & workflow priorities to meet all deadlines.
Feedback on developments in a timely manner.
Creation and management of colour palettes.
Organisation of all design spaces.
