JOB TITLE: Junior Design Engineer LOCATION: Aylesford, Kent. Office based WORKING HOURS: 7.30am – 4.30pm A bit about the role We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Junior Design Engineer on a fixed term contract for 12 months, this could be extended and has the potential to to go permanent.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Product Development Manager, contributing to exciting projects by creating and maintaining precise technical drawings for both our existing product line and innovative new launches.

Some of the key responsibilities Contribute to ongoing improvement projects for existing products.
Apply a continuous improvement mindset to identify improvements for existing products.
Create accurate, high-quality technical drawings for manufacturing purposes.
Create detailed bills-of-material for accurate costing.
Liaise with manufacturers and internal staff to ensure a smooth flow of the products/projects dealing with any issues or queries as they arise.
Produce technical drawings and product manufacturing drawings.
Support the team with space planning and layout of furniture in customers' space and keep internal records in the product database for billing purposes.
Assist with creation of 3D models of the furniture using SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
Ability to reprioritise workload to accommodate business priorities.
Requirements You are qualified in Industrial/Product/furniture design to degree level or equivalent Design engineering qualifications with experience working in a similar furniture Design Engineer role.
Some experience in producing detailed drawings and designs for manufacture.
Have excellent experience with CAD packages – SolidWorks (essential) Fusion 360 & Autodesk Inventor (advantageous).
Excellent IT skills with competent use of Microsoft Office (mainly Outlook and Excel).
An excellent understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes.
Technical and space planning experience.
Confident, pro-active, approachable and happy to turn your hand to anything required.
Hardworking, conscientious and take pride in your work Happy to work to tight deadlines.
Self-motivated and organised with excellent attention to detail and can-do attitude.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
