Junior Commercial Counsel Department: Legal Location: Motorsport UK, Bicester Motion.
Hours of Work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week).
Core hours are 09:00 until 17:30, Mon – Fri. Line Manager: Assistant Legal Counsel Direct Reports: None.
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (Guide range based on experience) Grade: B Role Purpose The Legal Department is responsible for managing the commercial, business and regulatory affairs of the company as well as developing and sustaining a governance structure that maintains the transparency, accountability, and integrity of the National Governing Body.
The Legal Department also encompasses the Regulatory function which governs motorsport in the UK, maintaining standards in the sport as well as ensuring safety and fair play for its members, clubs, officials, and volunteers.
The Junior Commercial Counsel will play a key role in supporting the business and its external members in relation to commercial and regulatory matters.
Responsibilities Providing clear and detailed legal advice to the business and stakeholders in respect of a variety of matters, including IP and GDPR.
Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements including but not limited to partnership/rights agreements, consultancy agreements, service/supply agreements, confidentiality agreements.
To assist with regulatory matters, including National Court preparation.
Working closely with the Safeguarding Department to review allegations of poor practice / behaviour / regulatory breaches, undertaking investigations and implementing outcomes.
Assist and manage complex licensing requirements and concerns including medical and safety processes.
To communicate clear investigation outcomes both verbally and in writing, sometimes involving sensitive and/or contentious matters.
Drafting and updating internal policies in collaboration with executives and stakeholders.
Providing corporate governance assistance to the business.
Carrying out accurate legal research.
Processing visa endorsement for Elite Sportspersons.
Triage and delegation work as appropriate to external resource or additional team members Essential Experience Experience working in a legal environment Drafting of commercial contracts.
Confident communicator.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working with senior stakeholders.
Desirable 0-2 years PQE in a commercial in house environment or equivalent in private practice.
Cilex Fellow or qualified Solicitor.
