SOUTH WEST COLLEGE JOB DESCRIPTION IT Technical Support Officer Ref: TSO179/24 Job Title: IT Technical Support Officer Contract Length: Permanent Responsible to: Head of IT Services Reporting to: IT Technical Supervisor Location: Omagh Campus (may be required to work at other campuses) Job Purpose: Responsible for the provision of technical support and maintenance of the College IT networks (including IP Telephony systems) and assisting in the efficient running of the technical strand.
Main Duties and Responsibilities End-User Device Support: Set up devices (PCs, Apple Macs, tablets, printers, communication devices).
Install and configure operating systems.
Create and repackage applications for deployment.
Install and configure software using endpoint tools.
Deploy and configure network devices (e.g., printers).
Provide technical support for interactive displays.
Trial new software/hardware products.
Manage objects in Active Directory.
Communicate with staff regarding IT support (email, Teams, in-person).
Contribute to IT procedures development.
Network Maintenance: 11.
Support the efficient operation of IT networks and services.

Monitor network performance and ensure legal compliance.

Liaise with suppliers for technical issues.

Ensure system security, backup, and disaster recovery.
15.
Maintain internal/external connectivity.

Install and document hardware changes.

Implement system maintenance procedures (e.g., backups, security).

Maintain and review system security.
19.
Store and tag IT equipment securely.
20.
Maintain an accurate asset management system.

Audit ICT equipment and update records.
22.
Prepare and dispose of equipment securely.
23.
Follow IT policies and report issues to the Head of IT Services.
Monitoring and Review: 24.
Contribute to quality systems development (e.g., ISO 9001, Investors in People).

Provide reports for the IT Supervisor/Head of IT Services.

Attend audits, provide information, and support action plans.
