Job summary St Teresas Hospice,Darlington is seeking Staff Nurses to join our Inpatient Unit team.If you are passionateabout palliative care and want to be part of an effective team that makes areal difference within the community, then this could be the perfectopportunity for you., 5.5shiftsper week available; possible working patterns include 2 or 3 x full dayand night shifts per week or 3 or 5 x hours full day and night shifts per fortnight on a rota basis.
Day shiftsare 07:30-20:00 and nights shifts 19:30-08:00St Teresas HospiceBand 5, WTE £29, - £34, per annum (pro rata to hours contracted),plus enhanced rates for unsociable hours.Employer: St TeresasHospice (independent registered charity) Important application info:Successful applicantsare required to provide an enhanced disclosure with a check of the adult barredlist.

Main duties of the job We are a forwardthinking, inclusive registered Charity with Inpatient, Outpatient and Hospiceat Home services, providing care and support to palliative patients and theirfamilies in their own homes and at St Teresas Hospice.
In this post, you willprovide high quality holistic nursing care to palliative patients within the InpatientUnit and create appropriate plans of care to enable and recognize individualwishes and preferences.
You will develop and demonstrate a sound knowledge ofpalliative care and contribute to the future development of this nurse-led unitthrough further expansion of specialist knowledge and skills as required.Essentialqualifications and skills include:Firstlevel Registered Nurse (General/Adult Nursing) with current NMC registrationUnderstandingof the Hospice setting and ethosProfessionalexperience in the field of palliative care would be an advantagePlease see the jobdescription and person specification for further details.An induction and ongoing training will be provided.

Person Specification Experience Essential Clear understanding of and experience of multidisciplinary team working Desirable Post qualification experience working at NHS Agenda for Change band 5 (or equivalent) or above (desirable for IPU candidates, essential for Community candidates) Professional experience in the field of palliative care in any setting, including as a student Experience of community nursing Experience of public engagement Experience of using SystmOne patient record database Qualifications Essential First level Registered Nurse (General/Adult Nursing) with current NMC registration Understanding of the Hospice setting and ethos Desirable Evidence of teaching or mentorship in practice Palliative care qualification, An introduction to patients with cancer and long term conditions at Diploma level or BSc (hons) Practice Innovation (Palliative and End of Life Care) Non-medical Prescribing Qualification Willingness to undertake Nurse Prescribing qualification and Palliative Care Qualification if not already held Knowledge and understanding of the palliative care agenda including local and national guidelines and documents.
Knowledge and/or experience of audit Skills and Motivation Essential Ability to work autonomously Good clinical skills Willing to work across all Hospice services as required Strong interest in palliative care Innovative team player Flexible approach to working Passion for delivering high quality patient care Strong interest in palliative care Passion for ethos of the hospice and demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for the vision of the organisation Committed to learning and undertaking ongoing CPD Desirable Clinical skills in phlebotomy Clinical skills in IV cannulation and administration of medicines Able to travel for work using own transport, including carrying a passenger and small equipment
