Interim Legal Counsel - Data Privacy - Hybrid working - Manchester Our client, a household name within it's industry is currently looking for a junior-mid level privacy lawyer (minimum 2 years PQE), to join their team for an initial period of 3-6 months.
The role would be to start in January 2025.
The client is happy to offer a flexible hybrid working arrangement with 2 days in office and 3 remote.
Job Summary The privacy Legal Counsel will work in a team of dedicated privacy lawyers and other privacy professionals The interim role will support the privacy regulatory sub-team and privacy analysts and privacy operations teams, field a range of legal questions related to data protection and privacy to help the business make the right decisions to comply with all relevant data protection and privacy laws This individual will work closely together with the Senior Counsels on the more complex matters Key Responsibilities Keeping up with new developments in data protection and privacy laws on a global basis; including reviewing regularly updated materials on new laws and meeting with privacy professionals at sister brands; Crafting and supporting legal requirements for privacy laws which impact the company; Implementing and maintaining privacy policies, procedures and aligning these with the company Privacy Framework, including external notices; Crafting and delivering privacy awareness trainings; including reviewing & updating materials, creating FAQ;s and meeting with privacy champions; Reviewing timely responses to complaints; Working with the Public Affairs team within the legal team to provide input on privacy related topics and recommendations Ad-hoc requests may include assessing data processing activities, providing privacy legal advice on various projects or products; Working closely with the Global Data Protection Office, other Legal Counsels, Risk & Compliance Teams, and other colleagues as well as outside counsels worldwide.
Requirements of special knowledge/skills 2+ years' experience in a law firm and/or major corporation in a role involving data protection, privacy compliance and data security.
CIPP/E / CIPT (or other similar) certification is a plus a deep understanding of the GDPR and how this applies to developments in the fields of technology and security Experience with regulatory developments in APAC is a plus This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to join a global company and be a part of our well established in-house legal team, working with a variety of internal stakeholders.
