Temporary Investigating Officer Salary: £34,524 - £35,712 per annum Location: Belfast Contract: Temporary Vanrath are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a prestigious public sector organisation for the position of Temporary Investigating Officer.
This exciting opportunity is ideal for individuals with strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills who thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The Role: As a Temporary Investigating Officer, you will be responsible for: Conducting impartial desk-based analysis and investigations into complaints regarding public bodies.
Assessing complaints against the NI Local Government Code of Conduct for Councillors.
Supporting 'Own Initiative' investigations into potential systemic maladministration or injustice within public services.
Preparing detailed, evidence-based reports for senior management.
This role requires excellent judgement, analytical rigour, and the ability to handle a varied caseload while adhering to strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities: Investigating complaints in line with legislative and procedural frameworks.
Gathering and analysing complex information to support decision-making.
Conducting interviews with complainants, witnesses, and relevant parties.
Drafting clear, concise correspondence and reports.
Promoting the organisation's values and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
The Ideal Candidate: Applicants must demonstrate the following essential criteria: Qualifications: A degree (or equivalent) with at least 2 years' relevant experience, OR a minimum of 4 years' relevant experience in collecting and analysing information to produce evidence-based conclusions.
Experience: Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Experience interpreting legislation, codes, or guidance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage complex workloads and meet deadlines.
Experience conducting challenging interviews with empathy and professionalism.
Desirable: Knowledge of investigative practices and research techniques.
