We Do Group are delighted to be supporting an accountancy practice in Guildford, recruiting an Interim Manager for a team specialising in providing an outsourced Finance function for SME businesses.
This particular role focusses on year end accounts and associated prep work, as well as supporting on management accounts & system improvement projects.
Hybrid: 50/50 Duration: 12 months Rate: £300-400 per day (inside IR35) The Role Statutory Accounts - 80% Oversee the preparation of a portfolio of statutory financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (such as UK GAAP or IFRS) and regulatory requirements Coordinate with clients and auditors to ensure accurate and compliant year-end financial statements, managing timelines and deliverables effectively Review and finalise statutory accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness before submission to relevant authorities (such as Companies House or HMRC) Provide guidance on the interpretation of financial regulations and standards, ensuring clients meet all statutory reporting obligations Everything Else - 20% Management Accounts and Board Reports Design, implement and manage the month end/quarter end process for a range of clientele Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely management accounts, ensuring all financial data aligns with client expectations and regulatory requirements Prepare detailed board reports for investors and stakeholders, providing insights into financial performance, key metrics, and strategic recommendations Collaborate with clients to interpret financial data and provide analysis that supports business growth and decision-making VAT Returns Manage the preparation and submission of VAT returns for multiple clients, ensuring compliance with local regulations and deadlines Monitor changes in VAT legislation and advise clients on implications, maintaining compliance and optimising VAT efficiency Review VAT calculations and filings to ensure accuracy and address any discrepancies promptly Innovation and Improvement of Systems and Software Continuously assess and improve existing accounting systems and processes, identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and cost savings Customise and configure cloud accounting packages to meet specific client needs, providing training and support to ensure successful adoption Evaluate and recommend appropriate cloud accounting software and tools, staying up to date with new technologies and industry best practices Management of Team Lead and manage a team of professionals, overseeing daily operations, workload allocation, and quality assurance Provide mentorship, support, and guidance to the team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement Conduct regular performance reviews, set objectives, and identify development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and competencies Your Profile Qualified Accountant - ACA, ACCA, CA Recent experience within an accountancy practice Audit / Accounts / Outsourcing team Effective communicator - written & verbal Good working knowledge of MS Excel
