AWE is looking for an Instructor/Trainer - Control and Instrumentation (C&I) to join a team responsible for inspiring and leading our apprentices to a successful C&I career.
C&I is an enduring and key role required by the business to provide maintenance, installation and design of C&I systems to allow the programme to be successfully deployed.
This group of engineers is of particular importance to the modern facilities in construction at AWE and their requirement for PLC and sensor control; C&I is amongst the UK scarce resource.

Within this role you will: Design, deliver and evaluate training in practical skills, knowledge and behaviours for control and instrumentation apprentices Optimise, organise, develop and deliver skills and underpinning knowledge training for allocated apprentices including the review and maintenance of course files, syllabi and schemes of work Have or be willing to obtain teacher and assessor status and maintain it via continued professional development activity Work as part of the Skills Academy team to ensure that defined company and national contracted requirements for development are met Assure, assess and / or instruct apprentices skills, knowledge and behaviours, including during work-based learning Line manage apprentices including company performance management process and identify and address development needs and assessment using recognised company and academy processes Lead a team of approx.
12 direct reports Candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following: Proven presentation skills Good communication skills, both written and verbal to be understood by a range of audiences, from new apprentices to senior management within AWE Good influencing skills to ensure the appropriate learning opportunities and development of individuals Extensive experience in an engineering environment (engineers only) Although you may already hold a teaching/training background we welcome applications from those looking to change roles and specific subject area training will be provided to the successful candidate.
As part of this role you must: Undertake and pass a CRB check Have the ability and affinity for working with a diverse range of people and grades across the business particularly young people Have the ability to attend off-site events (e.g.
meetings, conferences, residential courses, etc.)
which may include short periods away from home including overnight stays Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.
