We are seeking a skilled and dedicated IT engineer to join our dynamic team at Malvern Optical.
As an IT engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems, supporting end-users, and contributing to the overall IT infrastructure of the organization.
This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities: - Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems, including servers, workstations, networks, and peripherals.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues promptly and efficiently.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings in collaboration with the IT team.
- Maintain and update system documentation, including hardware and software inventories, network diagrams, and user manuals.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Implement and maintain data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical information.
- Conduct regular system and security audits, identifying vulnerabilities and implementing necessary measures to mitigate risks.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, providing recommendations for improvements and enhancements to the IT infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and implement IT projects and initiatives.
- Maintain an awareness of IT best practices and ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in IT support, system administration, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of networking principles, server administration, and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable requirements: - Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional) would be advantageous.
- Understanding of UK Defence Cyber Security Domain, specifically experience with the Cyber Essentials(+) Scheme and the DCPP Cyber Security Model.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: £30,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
