We're looking for an Industrial Placement - Windows Infrastructure Engineer to help us make a difference to our planet.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Met Office on a 12-month Year in Industry placement, developing your skills and knowledge and ensuring you gain the most value possible from your experience with us.

As our Industrial Placement - Windows Infrastructure Engineer, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home.
This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week.

As our Industrial Placement - Windows Infrastructure Engineer within the Security Compliance team your role will be to support the secure delivery of the Met Office Windows-based IT systems and IT services, providing support to users, carrying out changes and resolving technical issues.
Your key duties Patching our Windows server and endpoint devices Remediate issues relating to patching Proactively reviewing the Incident and Task queues and taking ownership of issues as appropriate Responding to customers and colleagues promptly and keeping them informed Prioritising support requests effectively and to the appropriate level of urgency/impact Reprioritising effectively in response to changes in volume/new priorities Triaging and escalating support beyond your present capability/remit Why join us Our work is life-changing, often life-saving and always life-enhancing.

Expert by nature - Enterprise technology experience or keen interest in the following technical domains: - Microsoft Operating Systems support (Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022) - Active Directory tools (ADUC, Group Policy, AD Object Management) 2.
Expert by nature - Enterprise technology knowledge or understanding of one of the following: - ITSM Tool exposure/usage for Incident Management and change management - Intune and other MS365 platforms - Patch management - MCM/SCCM, PatchMyPC preferred - Anti-virus - Defender preferred 3.
Keep evolving & Better together - Logical, methodical, and with excellent attention to detail.
With a passion to learn, with an aptitude for understanding and solving technical problems.
Knows when to seek help when problem requires assistance and/or no direct progress is being made (i.e.
triage/escalation).
