They are looking for a Shot Blast and Spray Paint Operator to join their refurbishment team at their workshop located between Tonbridge and Maidstone.
The role will be to be a critical part of the refurbishment team that bring preused compactors and balers back to a high standard for return to their clients locations or for resale.
Job Overview: The Shot Blast and Spray Paint Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining shot blasting and spray painting equipment used to clean, prepare, and coat the metal parts and components of the machinery in their well equipped workshop.
The operator ensures that all machines run efficiently and meet the required quality standards while following safety protocols and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Technical Service ManagShot Blast and er, the role will be responsible for the safe and effective implementation of both shotblasting and spray painting requirements.
Shot Blasting Operations: Set up and operate shot blasting machines to clean and prepare metal parts by removing rust, scale, or other contaminants.
Adjust and calibrate machine settings (e.g., pressure, shot size, speed) to ensure optimal blasting results.
Monitor and inspect parts before and after shot blasting for quality assurance and compliance with specifications.
Maintain shot blasting equipment, including routine cleaning, part replacement, and troubleshooting.
Ensure proper disposal or recycling of used blasting media in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure safe operation of machinery and report any malfunctions or needed repairs.
Spray Painting Operations: Set up spray painting equipment, including spray guns, paint booth, and air compressors.
Prepare materials, mix paints, and adjust the spray system to achieve the desired coating on products.
Apply primer, paint, and finishing coats to metal parts, ensuring even coverage and high-quality finishes.
Inspect painted parts for defects such as runs, sags, or uneven coatings and correct any issues as necessary.
Monitor environmental factors, such as humidity and temperature, to ensure proper curing of paint coatings.
Maintain and clean spray painting equipment and booths to prevent contamination and ensure consistent results.
Quality Control: Inspect blasted and painted parts for quality, consistency, and defects.
Ensure parts meet specific customer or internal quality standards before moving to the next stage in production.
Record production data, including quantities, defects, and any issues with machine performance or part quality.
Maintenance and Safety: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on shot blast and spray paint machines to minimize downtime.
Follow all company safety procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators, gloves, and protective clothing.
Ensure safe handling and storage of hazardous materials, such as paints, solvents, and blasting media.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment and report any safety hazards immediately.
Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience as a shot blast operator, spray painter, or in a similar industrial setting is essential.
Skills: Basic understanding of shot blasting and spray painting equipment.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, product specifications, and safety instructions.
Knowledge of safety practices related to machine operation, chemical handling, and hazardous materials.
Attention to detail and quality control skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
