The Inclusion Lead Coordinator will support Inclusion Leads and activities across all HSDC campuses simultaneously and therefore can be based from any campus.The Inclusion Lead Coordinator will be responsible for positively and proactively promoting and fostering an inclusive and equitable environment at HSDC for all members of our college community through the effective coordination of campus Inclusion Leads activity and output.
This role will involve supporting Inclusion Leads to develop and implement on-the-ground strategies and initiatives at a campus specific and cross-campus basis to support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across all aspects of the HSDC, specifically student experience and curriculum.The Inclusion Lead Coordinator will act as an ambassador and ally for equity and inclusion, identifying and sensitively challenging attitudes and behaviours that do not align with our ethos – supporting our ambition to educate our college community on matters of equity and inclusion.The Inclusion Lead Coordinator will support the Director of People and Organisational Development and members of the College Leadership Team to contribute to and support the progress of the Equity and Inclusion Agenda and Action Plan.The Inclusion Lead Coordinator will lead on the development of our DIVE IN (Diversity and Inclusion) student and colleague focus groups and provide support in facilitating the provision for any other student collaboration groups sought such as LGBTQ+ and Neurodiversity.Responsibilities The role of Inclusion Lead Coordinator is pivotal in shaping a diverse learning and work environment, ensuring that all students and staff feel valued and supported.To ensure the effectiveness of the role expected outputs in conjunction with Inclusion Leads will include:Campus Specific:Developing and implementing at least one equity and inclusion focused event per term centred towards the campus student body voice and/or curriculum.Leading the formation and subsequent project management of the campus specific event timetable for the annual HSDC Inclusion Week, promoting the agenda and maximising reach and participation levels.Building links with the campus Student Union and/or body to promote the HSDC Equity and Inclusion approach and action plan, ensuring that student feedback is captured and bought forwards and requests for representation via focus groups are championed, implemented and participation sustained.
Ensuring there is a LGBTQ+ group present on campus, maintained with a regular meeting schedule and agenda.Identify opportunities to evolve the Enrichment Activities Programme to encompass a broader, more inclusive and equitable reach of topics and interestsCross Campus:Providing insight into our curriculum, student practices, physical infrastructure and personnel policies and procedures from an equity and inclusion lens, highlighting opportunities for development.Sourcing and feeding in topical equity and inclusion content to Vice Principal, Students, Learning & Quality and Director for Student Progress for use in Tutorials.Coaching and mentoring teaching colleagues on how to navigate difficult topics and conversations around equity and inclusion principles and current news stories in line with HSDC directive and AoC guidance.Inputting into Staff Development Day content and delivery alongside Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Quality and People Services.Seeking opportunities to expand reach of equity and inclusion agenda to strategic local networks and partners such as local schools and HE providers.Inclusion Lead CoordinationEnsure an appropriate plan of action is in place to achieve the assigned campus and cross campus outputs can via either independent or joint Inclusion Lead activity.To prepare initiatives for proposal and approval to the Director of People and Organisational Development and/or College Leadership E&I Working Group.To lead the allocation of tasks on cross campus initiatives and provide progress updates the Director of People and Organisational Development and/or College Leadership E&I Working Group.Ensure the attendance of Inclusion Leads to an Equity and Inclusion meeting once per half term (to be scheduled at either the start, middle or end of day to compliment teaching commitments and timetables).Requirements The successful candidate will have an active interest in equality and inclusion and how this relates to the unique environment of FE, where student experience, well-being and an inclusive learning environment are critical areas of focus.The successful candidate will have strong project management, team leading, organisation, communication and strategic and tactical thinking skills.In addition, the role requires the ability to manage and successfully deliver competing tasks with limited resources that result in tangible impacts.
