We are currently progressing a portfolio of onshore wind farms under a partnership.
This 1,500 MW portfolio ranges from early stage projects where they are negotiating land options and leases, through the development and planning process to consented wind farm projects which we hand over to our partner for construction.
We also deal with battery energy storage and solar energy.
Description We are now looking for an in-house lawyer to join our team.
The selected candidate will work closely with the existing in-house lawyer, the renewable energy project managers and the managing director on both property law and general commercial law matters including: Negotiating and advising on land option agreements, leases, heads of terms and exclusivity agreements Reviewing and reporting on title documents, title registers and plans Negotiating and advising on consultant appointments, instruction letters and terms and conditions Input into other general commercial agreements Assisting the company officers with Companies House submissions Creating and managing calendar entries and reminders for deadlines There is also scope for you to become involved in other areas of renewable energy development, such as grid, community shared ownership and consultations on government policies.
Planning and construction law matters are currently outsourced to external lawyers.
This role is 3 days a week, which could be spread flexibly (for example around school hours).
The company has offices across the UK but this role could be largely remote, with occasional travel to Scotland for meetings (usually 4-5 times per year).
Requirements The ideal applicant will: Have 3 years' or more post-qualification experience; Have experience of commercial property law; Be confident reviewing title plans and lease plans; and Have a proactive, practical approach to property development.
Our client works in Scotland, Wales and England, so a knowledge of both Scots law and English and Welsh law would be an advantage, but not essential because we use external legal advisers.
