Import & Export Lead

Import & Export Lead – 12 month contract – Earliest start date 1st February Based in Sunny Surrey, the Import & Export Lead reports to the Head of Customs and Customer Service, managing 2 Import & Export Coordinators.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, overseeing exports of ambient food product and pallets (including to NI and ROI) and managing imports from the EU to GB.
Key Responsibilities: Exports (Food, Pallets, NI, ROI, TRACES): Ensure accurate and timely processing of customer orders.
Issue complete export documentation (EHC, Export declarations, TADs).
Adhere to destination-specific regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate export trackers.
Imports (EU to GB): Oversee end-to-end import declarations.
Ensure accurate data flow via e-customs platforms.
Maintain import trackers up to date.
General Duties: Provide customs support to 3 GB sites and for new business acquisitions.
Manage vendor contracts (freight forwarders, customs brokers, hauliers).
Conduct internal and external meetings with HMRC and suppliers.
Support project management for import/export flows.
Perform weekly/monthly audits and ensure KPI compliance.
Collaborate with IT for data flow improvements.
Essential Skills: Proven experience in shipping, exports, or customs.
Strong knowledge of export/import documentation and processes.
Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
Effective team player with problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Skills: Experience with e-customs platforms.
French language skills are a plus.
This role will be based in the office 3 days a week.
