Position Overview: The HVDC Solution Owner is responsible for ensuring the competitiveness and success of a reference solution throughout its lifecycle.
This role encompasses strategic, technical, and commercial aspects of a HVDC converter station and substations, including cost management, project execution timelines, and market benchmarking.
The Solution Owner will lead cross-functional teams, driving collaboration between engineering, sourcing, procurement, and operations to deliver a solution that offers measurable commercial and operational benefits.
Strategic Responsibilities: Define technical solutions based on a thorough analysis of customer needs.
Monitor market trends, competitor innovations, and technological developments to stay ahead.
Understand the companys intellectual property portfolio and ensure freedom to operate.
Advise on key R&D investments to address market shifts.
Manage technical gaps, making decisions on whether to develop in-house or outsource solutions.
Define and manage R&D requirements to enhance and maintain the solution's competitive edge.
Technical Responsibilities: Lead technical change management reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
Coordinate efforts between business functions to ensure seamless execution.
Act as the primary liaison for product care, ensuring alignment on solution delivery.
Commercial Responsibilities: Review and challenge cost estimates, ensuring alignment with scope definition between GE and its partners.
Conduct program reviews and challenge the scope to maintain control over cost and timelines.
Personnel Development: Build external visibility and credibility for the company by actively engaging with industry events, such as Cigre , IEC conferences , and other relevant forums.
In Summary: The Solution Owner will have oversight of the reference solution, which is a baseline design that incorporates best practices from past projects.
This solution will cover all aspects of a converter station, from initial design to end-of-life (refurbishment and decommissioning).
The role requires balancing risk management with innovation by leveraging proven business capabilities while addressing new challenges.
Requirements: Over 5 years of experience in HVDC technology, ideally in the design or product management of DC Converter Stations or substations.
Previous experience with a leading renewables company specializing in HVDC, preferably an OEM.
Proven ability to communicate/manage cross-functional teams across various disciplines.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience attending industry conferences such as CIGRE or IEEE is highly desirable.
