Job Title: HR Advisor – People Operations
Salary: £25,200 - £31,800
Location: Triangle, Cambridge
Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term until 31st July 2025 (Available as a secondment opportunity for internal candidates)
Occupying a critical role in the People Operations team, you will support the management, administration, and coordination of UK Visa & Immigration (UKVI) and Right to Work (RTW) processes while providing advice and guidance to key stakeholders across Cambridge.
This is a great opportunity to build on skills already gained from working in a generalist HR, compliance role or similar, while learning and developing on the job to acquire new skills and experience across all areas related to UKVI and RTW at Cambridge, including project-related activities, as we continue to establish these core capabilities.
About the role: Cambridge holds a licence with the Home Office, enabling us to sponsor and recruit employees who require a skilled worker visa. As a Level 1 user of the Home Office's Sponsorship Management System (SMS), you will support employee processes, records, and applications using this platform. You will also develop internal process improvements to ensure we meet our UKVI obligations to the highest standards.
This role is essential in delivering a first-class recruitment offering for Cambridge.
Key Accountabilities: Creating and Supporting Records: Maintain internal and Home Office (SMS) records for all employees joining Cambridge through the UKVI route, ensuring accurate information management throughout their lifecycle. Managing Right to Work Processes: Support the management of Right to Work processes, including visa expiry dates, renewals, employee onboarding, and record-keeping requirements under our UKVI sponsorship licence. Providing Advice and Guidance: Offer advice and guidance to managers and employees on UKVI and sponsorship matters, working closely with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and other internal stakeholders. Leading or Supporting Projects: Lead or support project work that contributes to the policy and processes of the UKVI operating and governance framework, ensuring compliance and auditability in delivering UKVI and Right to Work related services. About you: We are looking for an individual with experience in compliance or regulated environments, where high standards of governance and risk management are essential. You should have a keen eye for detail and accuracy, especially when working with people systems and third-party platforms.
As a confident communicator, you will thrive in building collaborative relationships and supporting others through coaching and guidance to enhance employee self-service.
Your ability to lead or contribute to project work, with a focus on our administrative and record-keeping processes, is crucial. You will bring experience in process improvement activities, ensuring that outputs are implemented effectively.
Due to working with UK home office online systems, and to remain compliant, the role is only open to settled status or British / Irish passport holders.
