We are recruiting for a HR Advisor - Policy and Guidance to join our HR team.
The successful candidate will be based in our Birmingham office.
We have a flexible hybrid working approach, 40% of the week will be spent in the office and 60% will be spent working from home.
This is a fast-paced, exciting, and challenging role!
National Highways has thousands of employees across the country, which means we have a whole range of HR queries coming in to the team to respond to and support on, including guidance on HR policies and procedures, and resolving queries from sickness absence management to flexible working and employee relations.
You'll join a large, energetic team who are constantly striving to improve our customer service through providing accurate first-line HR support.
Key Responsibilities: Provide first line advice to managers and employees within a fast-paced shared services team and working to tight deadlines within service level agreements.
Answer incoming HR calls and make outbound calls to resolve queries and help managers/employees.
Understand and communicate HR policies, processes, and procedures to employees and managers.
Guide managers on sickness absence cases up to 3 months and work with the Employee Relations team on complex HR queries.
Process transactional changes such as Flexible Working Applications, Maternity Leave, Leavers, and Partial Retirements.
Collate and monitor feedback, exceptions, and trends through queries to suggest amendments and process improvements as required.
About you.
Experience in a customer-focused environment.
Vocational or standard qualifications - either GCSE/A Levels or NVQ/Apprenticeship (Essential).
Ability to build and maintain relationships across HR to enable effective escalation of complex queries.
Good organization and problem-solving skills along with proven ability to liaise effectively with colleagues.
Experience using computer systems including Microsoft systems.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
