About the role
As a Housing Litigation Lawyer, you will provide a high quality and professional service to proactively progress allocated litigation cases in accordance with all the relevant legislative and procedural requirements.
You'll provide proactive, specialist and in-depth legal advice to client departments, colleagues, stakeholders and others (where appropriate depending on the matter) as well as providing administrative support to the Litigation and Public Protection team and the wider Legal Services' teams to assist in supporting the day-to-day operations of Legal Services and the service delivery.
The role shall have conduct and responsibility of a range of litigation cases, albeit primarily housing matters in court and tribunal proceedings.
You'll work on matters such as:
possession proceedingsanti-social behaviour caseshomelessness challenges and appealsdisrepair claimsenvironmental protection and statutory nuisance matterstenancy management and breachesenforcement actions, debt recovery and injunctionsadvising on legislation and policiesYou will be responsible for drafting pleadings and statement of case as well as any other papers and correspondence required in the proceedings including bundling and correspondence with other parties, and to attend court and tribunal hearings and present cases at court.
About You To meet the key requirements of this role, the ideal candidate will:
be an admitted (qualified) Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and have rights of audience in all proceedings in the County Court.be an effective communicator through a range of methods and be able to explain issues clearly, objectively and in a professional manner.have knowledge in relation to mental capacity in relation to court and tribunal proceedings, civil litigation including housing law alongside court procedures and tribunal rules.have recent experience in dealing with housing matters and other civil litigation matters.Please see the attached role profile and person specification for full details.
