Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Administrator to join our team at Newquay Hospital.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated and able to make full use of the computer systems after training.
A willingness to learn and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential attributes applicants will require for this post.
This role will provide essential clerical support to key departments at Newquay, which include the Inpatient Wards, Minor Injury Unit, Outpatients, X-ray, in addition to supporting all patients, staff and visitors to the hospital.
You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task and prioritise your workload whilst dealing with frequent interruptions.
The successful candidate will be required to have a good level of education and have experience in Administration and Clerical duties with good customer care skills.
You must be enthusiastic and flexible in order to meet the ever changing needs of service whether it be on main reception or on the ward.
The successful post holders will be required to cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave.
Full training will be given on IT systems.
A uniform will be provided.
Proposed interview date: 10th February 2025 Main duties of the job To be the first point of contact for all patients, visitors and members of the public attending the hospital and to ensure they are fully assisted and receive a positive patient experience.
To register and attend patients in to the Minor Injury Unit, Outpatient or X-ray departments using the appropriate IT systems.
To learn the role of the Ward Clerk in order to support and offer continuity to the nursing team.
Maintaining and updating electronic patient records in realtime, following training using training manual and procedures supplied.
Answer the telephone in accordance with Department procedure.
To understand and be fully competent in a range of administration functions, responsibilities, and duties both routine and non-routine to contribute to the effective delivery of patient care, through knowledge of hospital systems and consultant practice.
Supporting and assisting all staff, patients and visitors to site.
The post holder will be required to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to work under extreme pressure, and be able to exercise sound judgement and decision making skills whilst working as part of a team or under own initiative.
The post holder will demonstrate a caring, compassionate and sensitive approach to their work, demonstrate their understanding of confidentiality and have a flexible, 'can-do' attitude to provide administrative cover to other departments when required.
