Job summary To provide a specialist clinical role, delivering Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention for people with Learning Disability and/or Autism with current or historical Forensic needs and risk.Managing complex communication needs for people across different settings in the community such as supported living and residential services as well as supporting discharge from prison and hospital.
Main duties of the job We are looking for a HCPC and RCSLT registered Speech and Language Therapist, with developed skills, working with people with learning disability and/or autism with current or historical Forensic needs and risk.
You will be able to demonstrate leadership skills in developing service provision and clinical pathways relating to this specialism.
You will have a commitment to providing a high standard of patient focussed care and be a strong team player, with the ability to lead and influence others.You will be employed by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust as part of the Forensic Support Team and as such have access to a team of colleagues with a range of skills and commitment to providing high standards of evidence based approaches, you will be supported by a Highly Specialist Principal Speech and Language Therapist and a Senior Forensic Nurse.We are a large and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy service of over 100 staff, working across all service areas in Derbyshire.

Person Specification Experience Essential Recognised SLT Degree qualification or equivalent HCPC registered, membership of RCSLT Relevant advanced experience post qualification in specialist SLT field.
Post qualification experience Excellent interpersonal skills, including observation, listening and empathy Ability to influence and negotiate as an equal with managers in DCHS and other agencies Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal Contributing to the development of clinical policies Demonstrates leadership skills as well as ability to be a good team member Understanding of the roles of other professionals and the principles of partnership working with key stakeholders in the service area Desirable Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and/or Autism Leadership courses Experience of working with those with Forensic needs or offending behaviours Membership of relevant clinical excellence networks Values Essential Commitment to high quality, patient focussed care Self-motivated with focus on continued improvement Able to motivate and enable others
