We are recruiting a corporate communications and PR manager to join their team on behalf of Causeway Coast and Glens Council, based in Coleraine.
Role: Corporate Communications and PR Manager Location: Coleraine Hours of Work: 37 hours per week - Monday to Friday Hourly Rate: - Weeks 1-12: £18.36 - Week 13 onwards: £20.31 Main Duties: - Oversee the day-to-day delivery of a Corporate Communications and Public Relations service across various Council services, ensuring a coordinated, modern, and responsive approach.
- Serve as the Senior Responsible Officer for the Corporate Communications and Public Relations service area on project groups as required.
- Provide advice and support to the Chief Executive, Senior Management Team, and Heads of Service, offering expert advice within the political and sensitive context; also support the Mayor and other elected representatives as needed.
- Maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders, including ministerial, parliamentary, and Assembly departments, as well as various public, community, and voluntary sector organisations.
- Act as a deputy for the Democratic and Central Services Manager in relation to Corporate Communications and Public Relations activities, as appropriate.
- Ensure departmental compliance with statutory legislation and adherence to good governance practices.
- Fulfil all responsibilities in a timely and effective manner, maintaining confidentiality in all Council-related matters.
Essential Criteria: Qualification: A level five qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Communications, Marketing, or English, or equivalent.
Experience: - At least two years of experience in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or Media, including: - Designing and preparing public relations or media plans - Copywriting and preparing press releases OR - Candidates without the specified qualification who can demonstrate at least four years of experience in areas (a) and (b) above may be considered.
AND - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- A full, current UK driving licence (Category B) and access to a vehicle for post requirements, or access to transport that meets the role's duties.
- Willingness to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
