Job summary The successful candidate will support the practice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services, working as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
Main duties of the job The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education whilst also supporting the administrative team on an as-required basis.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and professional healthcare assistant to join our friendly and ever expanding team.
Job description Job responsibilities Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant.
There maybe, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependentupon factors such as workload and staffing levels:Undertakenew patient health checksSupportthe practice nurse with health promotion programmesCarryout baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperatureand pulse rate, recording findings accuratelyFacilitateroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordinglyUndertakewound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as requiredSupportthe practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinicsCarryout BMI checks as directedActivelyparticipate in reaching Practice QOF targetsActas a chaperone as requiredWhentrained, undertake venepunctureWhentrained, administer flu vaccinationsWhentrained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurseCarryout ECGs as requestedEnsurespecimens are recorded and ready for onward transportationProvidesupport during minor operations as requiredEnsureall clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each sessionEnsurefridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidanceEnsureclinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced inaccordance with the organisations IPC policyDeliveropportunistic health promotion where appropriateParticipatein practice audit as directed by the audit leadParticipatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient careSupportand participate in shared learning within the organisationCompleteopening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota Person Specification Experience Desirable Experience of working in primary care Experience of working in a GP practice Qualifications Essential General education to GCSE level or equivalent care certificate or willing to work towards NVQ level 3 in care
