Our Healthcare Support Workers are at the heart of our multidisciplinary teams who support our patients by assisting the Registered Nurses in planning, delivering and evaluating care.
This will require you to:be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals, both verbally and in writing; share our commitment to maintaining high standards in everything we do; demonstrate that you can work effectively within a team that behaves in accordance with our values.The roles are varied and busy as you will be working a variety of shifts including long days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
We will support you to achieve full training for your core duties at our award-winning Healthcare Academy.
This will include achievement of a national Care Certificate, an introduction to the essentials you will need to be a Healthcare Support Worker at the Trust, and a commitment to supporting your continued development.
Main duties of the job No previous experience in a health care setting is required.It is essential that within your application you are able to demonstrate an understanding of the role and responsibilities, able to prove how you develop and maintain positive working relationships, along with evidencing how you would demonstrate our Trust values of respect, improving, caring, and high standards.The minimum hours available for this role is 23 hours per week.
You must be able to commit to the standard shift pattern for this role which includes long days, nights, weekend and bank holidays.If you are shortlisted you will be invited to a face to face assessment centre and unfortunately there is no capacity for a virtual interview.

Job description Job responsibilities Understanding your roleWorking under the direction of a registrant, participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care, within the boundaries of your role which may include chaperoning of patients, escorting/ transferring of patients and providing 1-1 or group enhanced care Demonstrates own duties/ role to new starters Frequent exposure to emotional/distressing events, breaking of bad news Assist in the care of patients at end of life and after death Orders supplies under the direction of the nurse in charge Participate in patient and public involvement activities Participate in general cleanliness and tidiness of the environment Undertake mandatory training and role specific training relevant to role Prioritises own work loadPerson centred careExchange factual information with patients using a variety of methods to help patients understandingUndertake personal care duties , bathing, toileting, dressing, support with meals and assisting patients with their personal hygiene appearanceAct as patient advocate at all timesCommunicationInvolve patients and carers/relatives in delivery of patient care and provide assurance and support when required Identify concerns regarding the patients health, safety and wellbeing while undertaking personal care and discuss with the nurse in chargeHandling informationParticipate in the maintenance of accurate records of care both written and verbal Accurately record height, weight age, fluid, nutrition intake and output, bowel movements (this list is not an exhaustive list and other documentation may be expected as part of the role).
