Job summary An exciting job opportunity hasarisen for a part time post up to 31 hours per week within the Gynaecology nursingteam at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.Weare looking for a highly motivated Band 2 Heath Care Assistant who has an enthusiasm forwomens health and is keen to be part of our dedicated nursing team on theWomens Health Unit.
This unit carriesout ambulatory gynaecology procedures such as hysteroscopy, colposcopy, andcystoscopy and gynaecology clinics.Youwill work as part of the nursing team in order to assist the senior nurses inproviding clinically excellent,compassionate care acting as the patients advocate and chaperone.
You should have excellent communication skills to engage withpatients and colleagues, promoting the Trusts values.
You will have theopportunity to further develop your skills and knowledgewithinGynaecology.
Gynaecologyservices atWorcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust are offered across our three hospitalsites; Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Kidderminster Treatment Centre and TheAlexandra Hospital, Redditch.

Job description Job responsibilities Key Duties To accompany patients where clinicalsupport is indicated To chaperone patients as required To undertake basic observations suchas blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height and weightmeasurements, record and report results to qualified staff To ensure that patients receive careappropriate to their needs To assist in the setting up andcleaning of clinic spaces, trolleys and disposal of clinical waste To respond appropriately to clinicalemergencies To answer telephone calls and takemessages informing appropriate persons of the call To assist in the transferring ofpatients using correct manual handling techniques and equipment as appropriate To report to qualified staff,without delay, any observed change in a patients condition or any concernexpressed by a patient about nursing care or medical treatment Demonstrate knowledge of Health andSafety at work in order to maintain a safe environment To maintain professional and personaldevelopment Use of phlebotomy skills ifappropriately trained Undertake mandatory and localtraining appropriate to the role To act always in a manner whichpromotes positive working relationships and maintains the professional image ofthe TrustCommunication and RelationshipsThe Healthcare Assistantsrelationship with both staff and patients should be discreet, bearing in mindthat all information regarding patients must be kept confidentialReport to the nurse-in-charge ofdepartment matters of concern relating to patients and the departmentenvironmentAnswer the telephone, referring to theappropriate person when requiredBe aware of the need to greetvisitors to the department and ascertain the reason for their visitEnsure the privacy and dignity ofpatients at all timesDemonstrate knowledge andunderstanding of health and safety at work in order to maintain a safeenvironmentTo attend departmental meetings asappropriateAdministrativeTo undertake a range of clericalduties includingo Reception and telephone dutiesoBasic computer skills and use ofTrust IT systemsoStock control and orderingCleaningMaintain cleanliness and tidiness ofthe area and equipment as instructed and complete all necessary paperworkrelating to this in line with trust guidelines.
