Job summary We are currently on the lookout for a positive and motivated individual to join our growing team as a Healthcare Assistant.The successful candidate will support the practice nursing and administrative teams inthe delivery of clinical and administrative services, working as part of thepractice multi-disciplinary team, delivering care within their scope ofpractice to the entitled patient population.
Main duties of the job The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Job description Job responsibilities Primary responsibilities:The following are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant.
There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:Undertake new patient health checksSupport the Practice Nurse with health promotion programmesCarry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accuratelyFacilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordinglyUndertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as requiredSupport the Practice Nurse with the management of chronic disease clinicsCarry out BMI checks as directedAct as a chaperone as requiredWhen trained, undertake venepunctureWhen trained, administer flu vaccinationsCarry out ECGs as requestedEnsure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportationProvide support during minor operations, hepatology and sexual health clinics as requiredEnsure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each sessionEnsure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidanceEnsure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the organisations IPC policyDeliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriateSecondary responsibilities: In addition to the primaryresponsibilities, the Healthcare Assistant may be requested toParticipate in practice audit as directed bythe audit leadParticipate in local initiatives to enhanceservice delivery and patient careSupport and participate in shared learningwithin the organisationComplete opening and closing procedures inaccordance with the duty rota Person Specification Qualifications Essential Ability to work as part of a dedicated team in a busy friendly practice.
Training will be provided for the correct candiate.
