Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for inspirational and motivated Health Care Assistants to join our dedicated team on Acute Frailty Unit (AFU / Ward 4) at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.The successful candidate will be supported by both our nursing and medical team and essential training for the role will be provided.You must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals and be enthusiastic and passionate about delivery of high quality care.
As a health care assistant within the team, your role will be assisting our patients with everyday tasks which involve assisting with personal hygiene, encouraging oral intake, maintaining patient's baseline function to facilitate safe discharges.
Escorting patients to various procedures and transfers whilst also assisting both our medical and nursing teams deliver treatment.
Acute Frailty Unit have patients transferred directly from the emergency department with a variety of health conditions.
The unit also gives opportunity to care for the older person with complex health conditions.
The team lends a fantastic place to learn and develop skills also to work alongside skilled health professionals who work within the multidisciplinary team both in the hospital and virtual links to the community teams.
Main duties of the job Health Care AssistantMaintain high standards of nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and be personally responsible for your actions following the Trust's Policies and Procedures.
Give and promote Health Promotion Education under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to the patient and carer in order to promote wellbeing and prevent further unnecessary hospital admissions.
Ensure a high quality service is maintained by implementing Trust Clinical Governance Plans.
Work as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team, and in conjunction with these other professionals promote a holistic model of care.
Maintain accurate written and/or electronic records ensuring all legal requirements are met.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Completed NVQ Level 2 course Desirable NVQ Level 2 Experience and Skills Essential Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting.
