We are looking for an OHSE Manager for our Croydon site to help shape the current operations and future strategy of OHSE for Zotefoams by developing a site wide roadmap and overseeing the implementation of appropriate policies, procedures and cultural change that promote best practice and minimise risk to the organisation its employees and contractors.
About the Role: In this role you will advise the Site Directors and Senior Leadership team on all OHSE matters including legislative changes and best practice.
You will also work with the senior leadership team to drive OHSE accountability across the business and support managers in implementing and communication of these changes.
You will lead a team of 6 staff covering the Croydon facilities management and OHSE team.
You will lead with plans to continuously improve their level of competency and enthusiasm for safety at Zotefoams.
In addition, coach the OHSE and Facilities team in providing the support to other departments.
Continue to develop the Croydon site safety culture maturity, leading by example and demonstrating a positive attitude to others.
This will be achieved by supporting the site in ensuring the OHSE Management System requirements are defined, documented, communicated and implemented effectively, including: Implementation of approved policies/procedures/actions across the site to ensure relevant accreditation is achieved; communication of OHSE requirements to all employees.
Support continuous improvement of OHSE within the team, with colleagues and across the organisation and organisation and facilitation of the site OHSE Steering Group meetings.
Enhance and maintain the site the OHSE management system and associated external accreditations including but not limited to ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018 ensuring that all permits and relevant authorisations are maintained.
Ensure that Health & Safety risks/hazards are reported, communicated and controlled and, where needed, safe working procedures are developed, implemented and communicated in agreement with Maintenance Management.
Coordinating the site permit office.
Facilitation of the site waste reduction initiatives.
You will also ensure all site services tasks are undertaken in line with company procedures and policies to ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees and contractors whilst working in the plant.
In addition making sure of compliance with Health and Safety legislation, Fire Safety regulations and statutory requirements and maintain records thereof.
Ensure good standards of housekeeping and hygiene are set and effectively maintained to minimise risk to site personnel.
Whilst managing external suppliers and contractors including maintenance, security and cleaning.
In addition to the review of service contracts to ensure value for money and that facility management needs are being met.
This will include conducting a competitive tender process for all service vendors as required and at agreed intervals.
Other duties as required that are commensurate with role including: Upkeep of site housekeeping All security systems Maintaining site green areas Building maintenance (both reactive and planned) Non-Production services (Building systems A/C, HVAC etc) Design and delivery of training / briefing sessions / staff focus groups to ensure appropriate understanding and adherence to OHSE requirements of all divisional employees.
Experience and desirable skills: Qualifications: Level 6 Diploma (Preferable) NEBOSH General Certificate Level 3 qualification in Facilities management (Preferable) Knowledge Risk management Safety culture development and the 5 steps of an improving safety culture Investigation and root cause analysis Permit to work and contractor management.
Current working knowledge of ISO processes and accreditation Understanding of OHSE within a complex site or manufacturing environment Fully conversant with procedures & standards expected by Health & Safety Executive Experience 5 years experience of working in a heavy manufacturing site in an OHSE capacity.
3-5 years experience of working as a Health and Safety lead (or similar) role.
Experience of the leading accreditation to ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 certifications Skills Strong leadership including training, coaching & mentoring.
As well as verbal and written communication skills Experience of managing budgets Change management skills and Influencing skills.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders including directors and leadership teams to drive engagement of the OHSE agenda.
