Job summary We are appointing to a key postion within County Durham andDarlington NHST Foundation Trusts management structure.
The Health, Safety andSecurity Manager will lead and manage the delivery of the Trust's Health andSafety, Security and Fire services, including the management of staff andoutsourced contracts.
You, and your team, will provide specialist, professionalexpertise to staff at all levels, including directors, senior managers, estatesand clinical staff in all matters relating to health and safety, fire safety,security and violence prevention and reduction (VPR).
You will also act as theTrusts Security Management Specialist and as a Strategic Lead for thedevelopment and roll out the Trusts VPR programme, meeting NHS securitymanagement standards and the national VPR standard.This rewarding role will allow you to fullyutilise your specilaist and leadership skills to support both the organisationand the Health and Safety team to delivery outstanding services.
Main duties of the job The post holder will have overall responsibility forensuring that health and safety, fire safety and security services are providedin line with all applicable legislation, CQC Fundament Standards of Care,Health Technical Memoranda, NHS and applicable professional and industrystandards.
Using your expert knowledge, you will be responsible foradvising managers, representatives and colleagues on all issues relating toHealth and Safety at work and for the development, delivery and coordination ofHealth and Safety training for colleagues.You will need to work closely withstaff at all levels to ensure confidence in health and safety of users of ourservices, and our staff.
We cover a large geographical area and staff work inmultiple buildings, across both our own and service partner's buildings.
You will be responsible for the prompt andthorough investigation of all security and health and safety incidents(including incidents of violence and aggression against staff), and for theidentification and implementation of learning and remedial actions.

Person Specification Special Requirements Essential Able to travel across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post.
Qualifications Essential Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
Management qualification or demonstrable management skills including effective people management including performance management and development.
NEBOSHH Diploma or equivalent qualification / demonstrable Health & Safety experience Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) a or equivalent qualification / demonstrable H&S experience Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) Desirable Further NEBOSHH, COSHH and similar qualifications Relevant qualifications in security management and in violence, prevention and reduction.
Previous experience within Support Services in a healthcare environment Statutory Registration Desirable Membership of local / regional H&S and Security Forums Experience Essential Proven track record of delivering operational health, safety and security services at managerial level for a significant period of time Experience of negotiating and management supply contracts Experience of leading on, and developing and implementing health, safety and security policies including training, risk assessments, strategies and plans Experience in collaborative working with partners and stakeholders to implement effective health and safety, fire safety, security and VPR responses Experience in supervising/training and managing staff and dealing with complex staffing issues Desirable Experience of working within a unionised environment Special Skills and Knowledge Essential Expert, specialist knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, health technical memoranda.
