Your New Role As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will ensure compliance with current Health and Safety legislation, approved codes of practice, and guidance.
You will support the development and implementation of new policies and procedures.
Additionally, you will manage the College Health and Safety Management system, ensuring compliance with standards and maintaining accreditation.
You will assist and support college staff, including Student Health Advisors, in approving trips in line with the College Education Trip Processes.
You will maintain and develop the educational trip process, identifying best practices to enhance the process.
You will undertake risk assessments and implement required controls in conjunction with staff, contractors, or visiting organisations.
You will assist in implementing pandemic controls, ensuring the provision of PPE, signage, equipment, and control plans.
You will provide on-ground support across all campuses.
You will assist with daily queries and requests from college and staff representatives in conjunction with the Health & Safety Manager.
You will ensure procedures for the control of contractors are effectively communicated and implemented, including risk assessments and permits to work operations.
You will assess occupational health risks associated with college activities and create formal Safe Systems of Work.
You will ensure the provision of First Responder and First Aid cover, including required resources for both normal and abnormal situations.
You will ensure all accidents and incidents are reported and documented via the AIR system, including training staff and investigating incidents to prevent recurrence.
You will liaise with college managers and staff to ensure risk assessments of classrooms, workshops, laboratories, and other activities are carried out, and formal safety systems are implemented.
You will identify Health and Safety training needs and assist in developing and delivering the annual training program.
You will support college personnel involved in Work-Based Learning, providing necessary coaching and support.
You will provide guidance to college personnel involved in Work Based Learning Vetting and Monitoring, ensuring compliance with Welsh Government and UK Health & Safety legislation.
You will ensure documentation is stored correctly within the Customer Relations Management System (CRM).
You will assist with environmental matters, including Green Dragon.
You will ensure the effective deployment and management of Health and Safety Champions, reporting findings to the Health and Safety Manager.
You will assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust fire safety arrangements.
You will assist in the operation of internal Health and Safety audits and the inspection program with Learning Area Managers.
What You'll Need to be Successful You will need relevant qualifications in Health and Safety, experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting, strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practices, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
What You'll Get in Return You will receive an hourly rate of £19.09 per hour (PAYE).
