Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Bowel Cancer Screening Team as a Health Improvement Practitioner Specialist.
The post holder will be based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (William Farr House), however will be required to work at the service's other screening site, The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford as well as various other locations throughout the community.
The post holder will work autonomously in addressing health inequalities and health promotion within bowel cancer screening.
A key part of the role will be actively demonstrating improvements in Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), presenting to external stakeholders at programme boards and any other meetings as required.
The post holder must audit work undertaken and present to staff in staff meetings and will have an active working partnership with external stakeholders.

Main duties of the job To work as a member of the Bowel Cancer Screening Team, providing effective high-quality service to the service users in Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin (STW).
The post holder will work autonomously in addressing health inequalities and health promotion within bowel cancer screening.

Creating links with other field workers within a wide range of Agencies in the statutory and voluntary sectors of The West Midlands in relation to The National Health Service Bowel Cancer Screening programme (NHSBCSP) To demonstrate ability in communication of research and/or evaluation of results to a range of audiences using a variety of mediums and channels.
To visit GP practices and liaise with health care professionals in organising promotional information and events in promoting Bowel Cancer Screening to hard-to-reach groups.
The post holder will work towards Core20PLUS5 and the NHS long term plan of early detection and diagnosis of cancer.

This service currently offers diagnostic tests for 54-74 year olds after an abnormal faecal immunochemical test (FIT) and surveillance for Lynch Syndrome patients.
Within the next 6 months, the service will extend the screening age down to 50 as part of the NHS Long Term Plan.We are a very friendly, helpful team who strive to provide the highest standard of care for all members of the screening population who choose to participate in bowel screening.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Educated to Bachelors Degree level, preferably in a health related subject Desirable Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health / Health Promotion / Media / Communications Skills Essential Ability to work autonomously and manage projects Excellent written skills and able to produce reports Ability to analyse complex data and evaluate findings Experience Essential NHS Experience Knowledge of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Excellent working knowledge of MS Packages including Teams Experience of working as part of a multi-professsional team Evidence of current continuing professional development Desirable Experience demonstrating leadership skills Experience of presenting to public, charities or stakeholders
