Health Care Support Worker - Maternity Ultrasound

We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this position is 8:30-5pm Mon-Wed (7.5 hour day shifts including public holidays).
(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.
As a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) you will be part of the multidisciplinary team helping to deliver care and support to patients, sonographers and the lead sonographer.
Duties include: To follow all NHSGGC policies and provide a safe and person centred environment for woman and their partners.
Provide support and assistance to sonographers for multiple tasks as and when required.
Maintain levels of stock both in the store and all scan rooms, to allow sonographers to carry out their duties.
Ensure all scan rooms and clinical areas are cleaned and cleaning schedules are updated and recorded accordingly.
To report to the lead sonographer any issues/damage that is found while cleaning and restocking of the rooms.
To ensure good housekeeping throughout all areas of the ultrasound department.
To comply with all Health & Safety Legislation and policies with particular regard to COSHH, Fire, Infection Control and Manual Handling.
To support the lead sonographer in amending scan lists and contacting patients with appointments changes at short notice.
To chaperone medical staff and sonographers when conducting internal scans.
The post holder will be exposed, on an occasional basis, to emotional demands if patients receive distressing news or a poor diagnosis.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.
This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.
However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
