Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, you will work closely with staff, students, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
As the Health and Safety Officer, you will play a pivotal role in assisting in the implementation and maintenance of the robust health and safety protocols across our campuses.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead initiatives aimed at enhancing safety protocols, contributing to the embedding of a positive health and safety culture, and fostering a proactive approach to risk management.
About the Role As the Health and Safety Officer, the main purpose will be to: Develop, review, and update health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines tailored to the specific needs and risks of the education establishment; Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards; Support staff by providing advice and guidance on all health and safety matters; Coordinate regular health and safety training sessions for staff as well as delivery of some training sessions; Undertake audits of departments to ensure compliance.
What you will need To be successful in the role, you will need: Degree, NEBOSH or equivalent Qualification A thorough understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance relevant to educational establishments Confidence to deliver relevant health and safety training to staff Good communicator with diplomacy and tact Welsh Language Requirements: Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 Persons are welcome to apply for posts in Welsh and applications made in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.
