A bit about our school Ysgol Calon Cymru is a relatively new dual stream 11 – 18 school on two campuses which are 20 minutes apart, and opened in September 2018 after the merger of Llandrindod and Builth Wells High Schools.
We have a happy, inclusive and positive school community with students studying through both Welsh and English languages and we enjoy strong links with our 10 cluster primary schools, our parents and local businesses.
Our Governing Body is proactive, committed and engaged, and works closely with the Senior Leadership Team to help shape and deliver the best possible learning environment and opportunities for our students and staff.
We are a friendly, forward-thinking and an improving school, proud of our skilled and dedicated staff and of the enthusiastic and engaged student body.
Our leadership structure has been developed to embrace the new Curriculum for Wales model as well as to provide excellent pastoral and learning support for our pupils.
We have been working closely with our local authority partners to address our Estyn category and budget recovery plan.
We meet regularly with the Powys Schools Transformation team as they map out the next 5 years of our transformation journey, and we welcome the fact that Ysgol Calon Cymru appears so prominently in their plans.
