Head of Tax Our Role As Head of Tax, you will be responsible for the tax strategy, tax risk management, tax advice and compliance obligations of the Network Plus group.
As a PE backed Group on a rapid growth trajectory, the Head of Tax is responsible for ensuring the correct tax controls and governance is in place, together with effective tax strategies.
Versatility, commercial awareness, being comfortable with change, M&A experience and the ability to manage stakeholders are key elements of the role.
The role requires strategic and tactical understanding of the business and strong people skills to build and run a successful team and work with the rest of the business.
Reporting to the Head of Finance and managing an assistant tax manager, you will be responsible for working with all internal stakeholders, HMRC, auditors and tax advisers to ensure the Group is compliant and efficient (process and financial) in how it manages all relevant tax reporting and compliance requirements including Corporate tax, VAT and employment tax.
Key Responsibilities We are looking for someone to: Strategy - Set and manage the tax strategy of the Group, including leading the SAO preparation and review process and transfer pricing strategies.
Ensure the Group is Pillar II ready and build process for ongoing management.
Compliance - Ensuring the group submits all required tax returns and makes required tax payments on time, including review and sign off of VAT, CT, CIS, share scheme and PSA returns.
Manage the IR35 compliance of the Group.
Provide technical support to HR and Payroll on tax issues, including tax aspects of HR set policies/benefits.
Review and sign off tax figures for financial accounts and regular balance sheet reconciliation review.
Managing cash flow - Review and sign off tax cashflow forecasts of the group on a monthly basis, ensuring accurate forecasts are maintained.
Advice, business engagement and process improvement - Lead tax advice for business led projects, including system transformation projects, HR benefits, M&A and identifying tax efficiencies.
Stay up to date with relevant tax legislation and practice and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure any required policy or process changes are implemented and effectively communicated.
Providing support to the AP/AR/Procurement/Financial Reporting teams in identifying and making continuous improvements to accounting processes of the Group that impact on our tax compliance and reporting.
External relationships - Managing tax audit process and tax adviser relationships and the tax advisory budget.
M&A Lead on tax matters in any M&A activity, engaging with external advisors where appropriate and managing integration into Group tax processes post-acquisition.
Experience and Qualifications CIOT or accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong relevant post qualification experience in a similar role, ideally in a large corporate business.
Excellent communication skills and ability to influence and advise senior internal and external stakeholders.
Experience of overseeing tax aspects of systems and process change.
Flexible and able to support pinch points in workload, particularly at tax deadlines.
