Head of School for Obstetrics and GynaecologyAs Head of School, you will be responsible for the overall quality, management and supervision of the programmes within your School. You will ensure all programmes meet the standards defined by NHS England, the GMC and Royal College. You will work closely with NHS England's senior educators, other Heads of Schools, Directors of Medical Education, and Training Programme Directors to ensure that each trainee can access a comprehensive range of experiences which will enable them to cover the speciality curricula.
Main duties of the jobYou will be expected to maintain a clinical commitment. It is essential that you have a medical degree, membership/fellowship of the relevant Royal College/Faculty and have a current substantive contract as an NHS Consultant in a relevant specialty. In addition, you should possess excellent leadership skills and meet professional requirements for Continuing Professional Development and Revalidation and make a wider professional contribution through academic and managerial responsibilities.
This role is an East Midlands role so your work would span the whole region.
The post is offered on a secondment basis and all candidates are reminded that if they are successful, they are responsible for securing written agreement from their employer for release from clinical work for the specified number of PAs.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
NHS England holds a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you'll usually need to be paid the 'standard' salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the 'going rate' for your job, whichever is higher. Person SpecificationQualifications and TrainingConsiderable and current experience at Consultant level in a relevant speciality with a current clinical commitment within the region.Primary clinical healthcare qualification / Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body.Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development.Behaviours and ValuesAn academic interest in training and education across primary and secondary care.Ability to make decisions autonomously when required on difficult issues.Management of transformation and change.Experience and KnowledgeConsiderable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context including training delivery in service and education.Experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team.Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, related NHS organisations and regulatory bodies.Understanding of the workforce transformation agenda.Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others.Politically astute with an ability to sensitively manage complexity and uncertainty.Committed to own personal development and an ability to support others to develop and progress.Depending on experience, salary paid in line with sessional payments.
